3D Printed Electric Violin
My brother plays violin, and said that none of the electric violins on the market were cheap and also looked good. We knew we could do better with 3D printing because of the high amount of detail we could add with no cost. The tricky part was the tension.
In order to withstand the strings constant pull for years, we built in a steel rod that fits in the neck of the violin, and prevents collapse. The dragon's mouth holds all of the strings in a steel rod we milled. The tuning pegs had to be placed on the other side of the violin because we wanted to use guitar tuning pegs, which are superior to traditional violin pegs because they don't slip. The electronics are tucked away on the bottom of the violin.
