About
I am currently studying Mechatronics Engineering at Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering. Although I am passionate about untarnished mechanical design, I am fascinated by integrated mechanical, electrical and software systems. The connection between the design and analysis of many CAD packages allows me to create anything from artistic renderings and 3D printable sculptures to strong and lightweight brake systems and autonomous robots.
My primary experience and expertise is in machining techniques including CNC mill, lathe, CNC router, 3D printer, and many others. I am detail oriented and will stop at nothing to manufacture a seamless design. I take pride in creating tightly-toleranced, easily assembled machines that are as aesthetically pleasing as they are functional.
I also focus on integrating intelligent software with physical devices. My primary research and project focus is using software to control machines or optimize hardware-oriented processes. I am currently well-versed in Python, C++, Scala, and various libraries for robotics control and machine learning including ROS, Tensorflow, Keras, OpenCV and Theano.
I design custom printed circuit boards in order to have full control of the electronic components in my projects. With this capability, I'm able to make optimized systems which are tailored to the specific needs of the project, and am not limited to generic all-purpose components.
I love to continue to explore both robotics and mechanical systems design. To contact me about any of my projects, to commission an item or machine, or to inquire about professional commitments and opportunities, please email me at maxschommer@gmail.com or contact me by phone at (781)-214-0178.
