Glow Mirrors

I wanted to laser etch on glass, but that turned out to be much more difficult than I planned. The result is an exploration that is much more interesting and beautiful than plain etched glass ever could be.

By laser etching away the mirrored part instead (the back of a mirror), a mirror can be transformed into just glass on certain portions, allowing for any design to be etched in light.

The back light is made by one compact florescent bulb diffused with roughed acrylic and two white paper diffusers. Each lamp has a wall mount built in, and all electronics are hidden from view. No 3D printing was used in this design, it was entirely laser cut. This resulted in much more rapid construction.
