Loft
Human labor costs is the one thing we can't, or at least don't want to, decrease with technology. The more ways that computer controlled (CNC) machines can be used in a manufacturing process, the more scale-able the end product is. Often times, however, good craftsmanship is sacrificed when designing for CNC machines. This lofted bed is an exploration in creating a beautifully designed piece of furniture that is manufactured using only a CNC router.
By modeling bent wood, I'm able to produce organic free-form shapes while making the loft structurally sound. Bracing is hidden by gentle curves while adding to the aesthetic.
